0ec89dc55d849bb801393a70df7d006098bf0d86I felt a little guilty applying to review this product because I didn’t really have any intentions of using it for what it was made for. It’s a bicycle light. For bicycles. I don’t own one. If push came to shove, I was going to grab my godsons bike and pop it on there. His mother would have loved the safety of knowing that if he was riding his bike when the sun started setting that he would have been able to see clearly to come home. Thankfully, I didn’t have to do that as the company rep I spoke to about this loved my use for it. Ready to know what I put this on?

A Rollinator! Or a walker, whichever you usually call it. Yes, those things the elderly use to get around easier. My mom has one. She isn’t elderly but she does have some brain problems that we don’t know the cause of. Because of this, she’s been having motor issues since her early forties and is no long able to walk with assistance, drive a car, etc. We have to keep a pretty close eye on her. But anyways, she has a walker. The market for things that go on a walker is slim (and the prices are incredibly jacked up) so when we see something that would help her keep her independence, we jump on it. For me, this bike light isn’t just a light. It’s a way for her to walk her dog in the middle of the night, to see obstacles in her path that would make her fall, it allows her to walk from her house to mine if the sun sets faster than we thought it would. Sure, I can go pick her up and take her home in my car but it takes three minutes to walk and she needs and wants the exercise.

The Lumenex bicycle light has given her so much more than just the ability to see in the dark. It mounts directly on the front bar of her walker and is positionable so that she can either keep it pointed at the ground, allowing her to see what is in her path, or she can move it around a bit to see someone walking towards her. She can also take it off her walker completely, giving her a regular flash light. She can narrow the beam of light or broaden it, depending on what she wants to be able to see.

When I first asked her to come over because I had something for her, she grumbled a bit and said she’s be down later. My mom isn’t really a morning person. But when she finally walked in the house and my dad showed her what it was, she got really excited. Her squealing was what alerted me that she had come over since I was in my room reading a book and didn’t hear the door open. She immediately sat down and pushed her walker towards me so we could install the light. It only took around two minutes—and part of that time was putting batteries in it—to get it hooked on and working for her.

Then we showed her the blinking light that came with it and she laughed in delight. She loves putting it on the back of her walker to the side and turning it on so people can see her even better in the dark. I love being able to look out at one in the morning and seeing that light. It means I know my mother is safer than if she had been walking Daisy without it.

The best part about the Lumenex bicycle light is the fact that its hands free. With the light attached to the front of her walker, I know she still has a free hand to hold on to the walker with while the other is on the leash. It gives me peace of mind knowing that the chances of her falling are smaller with this.

I’m so glad I got this product to review, it’s one of my favorite things that has come in the mail this year because it takes a huge weight off my mind. If anything ever happens to it, I know I’ll be replacing it with no questions or issues about the cost. Amazon sells these for around $35 with free shipping. It makes me want to hit up the bike aisle in our local stores to see what else I can find to make her life easier now.
